  The teachers here are outstanding, the problem is they dont stay long. Almost every teacher my child has had is gone the year after. Surly something has to be going on if the school can not keep the teachers! A lot of other families we have gotten to know have left the school or the major disorganization and poor communication with the families. And i dont blame them. The amount of problems i have had with this school is making me realize that we probably will be leaving next! The top best thing about this school is the teachers. And like i said many of them are not there anymore! The sole reason i entered this school was for the optional dual language program, which i found out is not so optional! The first child they overbooked the first come first serve, and then kicked out the people that signed up first and picked and choose who they wanted. Then lied to the parents that they didnt know what happen. No one informed me and i walked into orientation not knowing what class my child was in because of the poor lack of communication this school has with families. My most recent child, i was sure they wouldn't try to pull the problems that they did the last time but man did they have me fooled. I was told only fully speaking spanish children could go into the "optional program" and that they identified my half hispanic child as african american. His scores showed that he would do well in the program but he'd have to go on a waiting list behind parents that are still deciding if they want their child in the program of not, even though i was asking for a spot in this "optional program". And all these thing were told to me from just asking why my child did not get a spot since the program is optional, never did i bring up race or discrimination she took it upon her self to explain things to be by those identifications. I was appalled by the things that lady was saying to me. Im just so disappointed! And Although the new principle is extremely nice, it seems almost impossible to get a meeting with her to discuss these issues. Also the kids are soo behind in math in reading. I spoke with the teacher about what they were learning in math because i was confused at which subject they were one and she told me like 4 different topics in the same subject! How can the kids keep up if your teaching them multiplication, long division, fractions and geometry all at the same time, like how!!!! Math is only an hour a day, no wonder the kids are behind they cant keep up like that. It's many things they need to fix with this school or the kids are not going to be properly prepared for the next level of education when they leave. Some of the things i like about this school beside the great teacher they have left would be the healthy lunch options. But they do have too many restrictions when you send a lunch to school, i actually got a letter home for sending wheat bread bc it had to be multi-grain bread lol! They have gym everyday which is rare for almost any school in the states, so that is a major plus. And the younger kids practice yoga and stretching in the class in the mornings. So i would say that have a lot of amazing people here but the organization and policies are messy. And when they can't explain something to you they just lie and make things up instead of being honest! There is a lot of involved parents and many that work there, and they talk!
