  I grew up here in the 70's and remember the park as a vibrant place that was the hang out spot for the local kids. Little league games, ping pong tables in the field house. Basketball hoops and the famous "tunnel" with it's awesome echo. I moved back to the neighborhood a few years ago and the old park is still there but not nearly as cool as I remember it. Bums sleeping on the benches. Graffiti on the play equipment. No more basketball or ping pong. It just seems kinda dead. Very sad. But I have a friend who lives near Kelvyn Park and she brings her young daughter here instead to play because it's small and quiet. Aging Hipsters are moving into the hood and turning up with their new families. So it's not so bad. Definitely a hidden gem that just needs a little TLC to bring it back to it's former glory.
