  Love this place. Monkey bread appetizer is a must! I usually get biscuits and gravy but they have delicious sweet options too! They serve la Colombe coffee which is delicious and bottomless. Also like that they have almondmilk instead of creamer. Not usually longer than 25 min or so wait.

  I had an egg white veggie omelette with a side of potatoes that was delicious. I'm pretty sure they have La Colombe coffee here, which I'm a big fan of. When I was here last, my friend bizarrely had a very spicy orange juice. I guess they accidentally put cayenne pepper in it when they meant to put it in a Bloody Mary. Weird, but no big deal. Highly recommend Kanela - and come during off hours if you want a seat!

  Our experience was apparently atypical, but pretty awful. The menu listed on the web site refers to a Nutella waffle, which my daughter was very interested in trying. They didn't have it and couldn't make it. My daughter ordered lemonade. They were out. My wife ordered grapefruit juice. They were out. Service was very slow, but I believe they were short staffed on the morning we were there. When our food arrived, my wife asked for butter for her english muffin, which was a dry, puck like assemblage of flour. They were out of butter. A breakfast place. Out of butter. In Chicago. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was the worst thing I've ever received in any restaurant ever, except for that time at a thai place in San Fran where I had an entire duck spine in my food. The 'gravy' was a dryish pasty lukewarm corpse-gray mash of onion and...something. The biscuits themselves were also very bad. Fortunately, a fruit bowl and a marginally edible pair of sunny side up eggs accompanied the entree. The monkey bread app was good and my daughter's cinnamon roll was decent. All in all, our brief time there was supremely disappointing.
