The CTA train system is truly sub-par public transportation for such a great American city. I get that the elevated rail system is a Chicago landmark. Keep it but improve it! The buses are so-so. Nothing special, neither good nor particularly bad, just okay, but then, I never did like taking the bus. Some problems with the train: cleanliness is inconsistent (sometimes a train will be very clean and inviting, usually the trains are filthy on the inside), trains are often infested with bums, and of course, those STUPID vending machines for fare cards. They do not dispense change. (But I only have 20s!) Have fun p!$$ing away $17 to get a 1-way pass. I suppose it is difficult for a vending machine to handle change. How about cashiers? Every station will have an attendant, but they fill a lazy do-nothing job (such as toll booth workers would). How about having the attendants perform cashier duties? (Also, I remember how the 1-way was once $2 but they recently bumped it up to $3. For WHAT?) The other problem is that train availability is quite spotty. It would be ideal if the entire system, every single station worked 24/7. (I think only blue and red lines operate 24 hours.) CTA trains do run longer and more frequently than Metra trains, but it would be nice if rush-period-only lines were open longer. Also, even operational lines have infrequent trains during off hours.

I swear. The CTA Transit is one of the best transit company's that exists in the USA today. If you think new york has a good one. Wrong, this one beats it. The ventra card system works so well and make riding the trains easy. The CTA makes traveling through Chicago very convenient. Also they have the easy to listen to automated voice that tells you when to get off. The voice makes it easy to know where to get off and what the next stop is. And which line your on.
