  The owner is very friendly and helpful. This is pretty much a one man operation. He is very devoted to his business, and his love for books is genuine. He leaves a few small stepladders in the aisles to allow you to get up to reach the top shelf (shorter people might also not be able to reach the shelf below that one). I find there is a very nice variety in the categories of books. Yes, this store can get quite cluttered. Just yesterday I went to the bookstore and about 20 books crashed over onto the floor in a section nobody was even disturbing (perhaps someone on the other side had done so). The owner called out: "everybody okay?" He did not go out to fix this - he just left the books on the floor! Sometimes he'll just pile up books in one category outside the shelf where they are kept if they cannot fit on those shelves (rather than just getting rid of the doubles or others), so one ends up risking the entire pile crashing over as you try to read or remove any of its titles. Thus, clearly his stock overwhelms him sufficiently to prevent his improving in organization. But still, well worth the visit. Easily one of the top second hand book stores in Chicago.
